The G-wagon; a lot can be said about this military based beast that found itself to be in the luxury SUV market in the early 2000’s. In today’s blog we’ll focus on the 2nd Gen W463, which was put into production from 2022 and is still in production till present. It was designed by German automobile designer, Balázs Filczer.

The 2022 Mercedes G-Wagon, or G-Class, is a luxury SUV known for its robust off-road capabilities and opulent features. It boasts a distinctive boxy design, iconic since its inception. Key features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, premium leather upholstery, advanced driver assistance systems, and customizable ambient lighting. The G550 model is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine producing 416 horsepower, while the AMG G63 variant offers a hand-built 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine with 577 horsepower.

Compared to competitors like the Land Rover Range Rover and the BMW X7, the G-Wagon stands out for its rugged heritage and superior off-road prowess, though it comes at a higher price point. Despite its rugged build, the G-Wagon offers a plush, tech-savvy interior, blending luxury with legendary durability, making it a standout in the luxury SUV market.

Since Kenya has a vast import market and open import regulations, this 2022 G wagon can be sourced from different markets with different specifications. The ideal spec to import is the Euro spec which comes with all the luxury aiding features. Although if you are looking for a more budget friendly version, the ex japan model is suitable too. Many dealers offer import on behalf or direct import, like CFAO motors, while some have these in stock locally like: RNN motors Nairobi, Khushi Motors Mombasa, Kai & Karo LTD, etc… The price of this car spans from Ksh 38 million – Ksh 55 million with varying specifications and origin of import.
